Sunday 25th saw Twyford entertain St Cross F at our home ground at Twyford School. Rohan was selected as Captain and Oli Marshall as Vice-Captain. Rohan won the toss and elected to field first. For the 5th consecutive week we have been able to include Debutants, this week was the turn of Haydn Moore. As always Twyford took to the field with great enthusiasm. Rohan started up from the Grandstand end and as he has done regularly for us made an immediate impact with a wicket on the third ball of the game. Great start and backed up by some great fielding. Oli M then struck in the third over with another great ball. 2 wickets down. Rich and Oscar G bowled two very tidy overs in the first pair. St Cross restricted to only 16 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. St Cross second pair found scoring very difficult with the 4 overs bowled by Ollie C, Milo, Tom and Debutant Haydn. They managed only 10 runs. Tom bowling a maiden over. The third pair for St Cross were then restricted even more – only 8 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. A double wicket maiden for Tom, a first ever wicket for Haydn on debut and two great Run Outs from Oli M and Haydn. Twyford fielding has been really impressive all season, and the small things make a big difference to the end result of the game. St Cross 4th pair then strode to the crease to up the run rate and get the scoreboard ticking along but they found things pretty difficult, wickets for Oscar G and Rohan and another Run Out by Oscar G restricting St Cross to 206 for 10 wickets.  A really good all round performance by the Twyford team. Fielding, backing up and Bowling was great. Notable performances from Tom who for the third time this season has completed his overs without conceding any runs or extras and picked up two wickets. Rohan for his two wicket and Haydn M for his wicket on Debut.

Innings break. Snacks and refreshments enjoyed by all. Thanks to the vocal parents as always for providing the snacks.

Time for the run chase. Oli M and Oscar got things started. The start was explosive as it was last week for this pair, 30 off the first two overs! A further 22 off the next two saw Oli and Oscar end with a 52 partnership. What a start, Twyford off to a flyer! Next in Milo and Haydn to keep runs flowing and how they did. Milo smashing 4 consecutive fours off the first over. Haydn then joined him the next over by helping himself to 11 runs. As with the first pair Haydn and Milo scored freely and scored another 22 off their last two overs – another fifty partnership. This is exceptional as Milo is relatively new to cricket and Haydn was on bebut – well done!!! Ollie C and Rich then entered as the third pair for Twyford. Both batted with great confidence and Rich hit three fours off the first over with three lovely confident shots straight past the bowler. Ollie C then hit a further four and with some great running and another four by Rich the pair ended with a 36 partnership , some great batting and Twyford were well ahead of the game. Tom and Rohan then in as the 4th pair. 14 off the first over kept the momentum going, Tom then hit three fours in the next over. Some great running as we are used to with this pair saw the scoreboard ticking along nicely.  Rohan finishing off with three fours in the last over. A partnership of 47 to end and a comprehensive win for Twyford. Oli M top scorer for the second week running with 30.

St Cross F  : 206 for 10 (Tom 2 wkts for 0 Runs, Rohan 2 wkts for 5 runs, Haydn 1 wkt for 4 runs)

Twyford : 387 for 1 wicket ( Oli M 30, Milo 21, Tom 18, Rich 18, Rohan 17, Haydn 16)

A massive win by 181 runs for Twyford, I believe this is a record win at Under 9 level for Twyford. Well played!!!! Some great positives from the game and the team is really playing with more and more confidence as the weeks go by. Onto this coming weekend we are at home to Compton and Chandlers Ford who will present a tough challenge.
