Under 9 Report 2007

U9 Season Report
By Jeremy Moreland – Coach and Manager

The Under 9s attracted 44 youngsters this year who met at Hunter Park every Friday evening to begin what we hope is a life long interest in cricket.

The group concentrated on learning basic cricket skills for the first hour of each session, with the second hour’s activity consisting of an exciting and often very lively game of ‘Kwik Cricket’. This is a game played with large plastic bats and semi-hard balls. The aim is to introduce children to the game without injuring them or dampening their enthusiasm!

Coaching assistance was in abundance this year thankfully! Many thanks to Steve Rowe, who successfully completed his Level 1 coaching course earlier in the year, Andy Gwynn and Trevor Watson, for their much appreciated support.

A very enjoyable season was concluded by the club presentation ceremony where prizes were awarded as follows:-

Best batsman:         William Rowe

Best fielder:            Giles Odling

Most improved:      Hugo Rickaby-Pratt

Player of the year:  Charlie Gwynn
