Colts
Over the last 7 years or so, thanks to the help of the all volunteer coaches, committee members and helpers, together with the enthusiasm of the children, Twyford Colts has continued to grow and improve. More than 100 children registered in 2006, continuing the trend of rising numbers over recent years.
The Colts meet every Friday evening at Hunter Park from 6pm until 8pm (weather permitting) and train with our experienced, qualified coaches and very able assistants. All those involved in the Club are CRB checked and approved.
Everyone involved in the running of the Colts, are volunteers who give up their free time to coach the children. We are always in need of further help in all areas of the club from coaching to making tea so please let us know if you are able to offer any help at all.
The Colts have four squads - U9, U11, U13 and U15 and all squads welcome both boys and girls.
Sometimes the weather alters our plans so please ensure you have contacted the relevant Coach or Manager regarding matches and training. You will always be notified by email, phone or a flier if you have been selected to play in a match.
For Friday training, children need to wear a white TCC Training Top and dark blue track suit bottoms or shorts. A warm top for chilly evenings, drink and sunscreen are also advisable. Training tops and caps can be purchased on registration evening or any Friday evening thereafter.
All those U11s, U13s and U15s selected to play in matches will be required to wear full cricket whites: a Tywford Colts’ Match Shirt, white cricket trousers, Twyford Colts’ Cap and protective box. Match Shirts and caps are also available for purchase from the Club. Please note that membership does not guarantee a place in the team.
Please remember to clearly label all your kit.
Equipment - there is no need to buy anything initially as we have plenty of bats, helmets pads etc to go round. However if you an U11, U13 or U15 you will need to buy your own box and jockstrap. Without this essential protective gear you will not be allowed to take part in training or matches.
U11 & u13 matches are nearly always played on Sunday mornings, meet at 9.15am to warm up and be ready to start at 9.45am. U15 are usually played on Friday evenings at Boyes Lane, Colden Common – but this is always subject to change and some midweek matches may be played.
It's great fun and it's a good way to make new friends - but not just for the children, but for parents too. As the season warms up more and more parents stay on a Friday; some bring picnics and in the past two years we have held a bbq after each training session from 8pm onwards which was a great success . Just relax after a hard week at work, listening to the sound of willow whilst sipping chilled wine and chatting with friends!
Some join in with helping………………the choice is yours!
We look forward to welcoming you along to the Twyford Colts.
